The Father Widmer Council of the Knights of Columbus, council #7877, is located on the grounds of St. William of York Church in Stafford County, Virginia on Richmond Highway. Council meetings are held on the 2nd Wednesday of every month, 6:30 pm at the Council Home and are open to all Brother Knights.
The Father Widmer Council was founded in 1981 through the efforts of the charter members. It is named after Father James J. Widmer, who while pastor of St. Mary's Church in Fredericksburg celebrated the first First Communion Mass to be held at St. William of York on May 12, 1957.
The Father Widmer Council supports the St. William of York Parish and the surrounding area of Stafford County, Virginia; providing funds and manpower for Church, Charity and Community including support for SWOY Outreach and Youth projects and the parish school through fund-raising and volunteer man-hours. Individual members are also active participants in the parish in many other ways.
